To help reuse plastic waste, Namita Kapale and Kalyani Bharmbe, two young women from Aurangabad, built an eco-friendly mud home with walls made of thousands of plastic bottles. The duo used mud instead of cement and made eco-bricks using bamboo, soil and non-biodegradable plastic waste, along with different types of plastic bricks from plastic bottles.

After eight months, the plants produced nearly 150 kg dragon fruits as a first crop. Adhikari believes that the crop might give him a good return for the next 20 years.

Seven years ago, Vikram Pandey from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, met a hungry old woman outside the Lucknow railway station. Seeing her condition inspired him to start a noble initiative named, ‘Indian Roti Bank’ (IRB). By now, the 38-year-old has provided food to about 12 lakh people. Pandey said that the IRB now has branches in more than 100 districts in 14 Indian states.
Several days ago, Shanti Murmu of Kujram village in Jharkhand was surprised to learn that she can avail free medical up to Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. To spread awareness about the scheme and to create Ayushman cards for each villager, volunteers ride in a motorcycle-mounted TV units called ‘E-AVAS‘ and explain the scheme and its benefits to people in Jharkhand through short films on an LED screen mounted on a bike.
