Did you know that the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), listed the hippopotamus as a ‘vulnerable species’ in 2006? Every year, World Hippo Day, also known as ‘World Hippopotamus Day’ is observed on 15 February, to spread awareness about the illegal trading of these animals in the form of hunting and poaching and to prevent the extinction of these mud-loving mammals.
