Dr Purnima Devi Barman has been awarded the Champions of the Earth award 2022, the UN’s highest environmental honour, in the Entrepreneurial Vision category. The Indian wildlife biologist leads an all-female grassroots conservation movement, the ‘Hargila Army’, which consists of over 10,000 women. This army is dedicated towards protecting the Greater Adjutant Stork (or Hargila) from extinction.
