Raising Awareness
- November 4, 2022
The world witnessed its most devasting tsunami in December 2004, when the natural disaster affected 14 countries including India and Sri Lanka. Hence, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), designated 5 November as World Tsunami Awareness Day in 2015, to spread tsunami awareness and to find methods for the reduction of risk, along with keeping track of tsunami disasters worldwide. Since then, the day is observed every year on 5 November.
