Seven years ago, Vikram Pandey from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, met a hungry old woman outside the Lucknow railway station. Seeing her condition inspired him to start a noble initiative named, ‘Indian Roti Bank’ (IRB). By now, the 38-year-old has provided food to about 12 lakh people. Pandey said that the IRB now has branches in more than 100 districts in 14 Indian states.
