In 2011, Prince Mehra from Chandigarh found two electrocuted pigeons, in a roadside dustbin. This unfortunate incident motivated him to do something for birds in distress. Mehra converted his bicycle into an ambulance for injured birds and has treated 1,150 birds in the past 11 years. He also buries the dead birds properly, by digging pits on the roadside where they are found.
