On 12 October, 2022, 40-year-old fish seller, Pookunju, from Mynagappally village in Kollam district, Kerala, was served with a bank attachment notice for not paying a loan amount of around Rs 12 lakh. To his surprise, he found out that he had won the Rs 70-lakh Akshaya lottery prize, one and half hour later. Pookunju said that he hopes to secure his children’s future with the money and to pay off all his debts. His luck has changed for the better indeed.
