For a Noble Cause

- June 22, 2022

With their continuous efforts and determination, a group of 30 women from the tribal-dominated Badakudi village in Jeypore town, Odisha, stopped the liquor sale in their village in two months. The women started their awareness campaign in April, 2022, to end  liquor consumption deaths in Badakudi. The activists imposed a penalty of 10,000 rupees on anyone who was caught selling liquor and consuming it in their village, with the approval of village heads. The women also sought the support of the Jeypore Sub-Collector, SDPO, and Excise Officer, for their cause.
