World Hepatitis Day is observed globally every year on 28 July. The day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of American Physician, Baruch Samuel Blumberg, who not only discovered the hepatitis B virus, but also created a diagnostic test and vaccination for it. The day is also marked to create awareness about this viral disease and promote the methods for its prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
