Kids Raised by a Village

60-year-old Vasanthi from Odakadu village, Tamil Nadu, has been raising her young grandchildren, Kousalya and Karthi, alone ever since their parents abandoned them. To her relief, the villagers came forward to help her in the children’s upbringing. In 2017, a committee was formed by the village administration to offer financial support to the grandmother to secure a bright future for the two children and also provide them with clothes, educational assistance, and other needs.
