First Private Single-artist Museum

A 75-year-old building named ‘Ballygunge Place’, located in South Kolkata is all set to become India’s first private single-artist museum. The house belonged to the Padma awardee and veteran artist Jamini Roy (1887-1972) and was recently acquired by the Mumbai-based art gallery DAG. The house is to be converted into ‘The Jamini Roy Museum’, so that the four decades of work by Roy can be available for the rest of the world to see.
