Gudi Padwa, also known as Samvatsar Padvo, is a festival celebrated mostly in Maharashtra and Goa on the first day of the Chaitra month. This year, Gudi Padwa is being celebrated on 2 April. The festival indicates the arrival of the spring and marks the beginning of a new year for people, who are native of Goa and Maharashtra. People clean their houses on this day and decorate it with mango and neem leaves, and beautiful rangolis.
