16-year-old Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa defeated 31-year-old World champion Magnus Carlsen, in the eighth round of the Airthings Masters – an online rapid chess competition, on 21 February, 2022. Praggnanandhaa, nicknamed Pragg, from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, won with black pieces in 39 moves. He also became the third Indian and youngest player to beat Carlsen, after Pentala Harikrishna and Viswanathan Anand.
