Giani Gurcharan Singh was one among the millions who lost everything during the Partition. He had to leave all his possessions and move from Lyallpur in Pakistan and settle as a refugee in Chandni Chowk, Delhi. But what he didn’t leave behind were the skills and experience in making traditional sweets. The shop that he set up in Delhi has now become a multi-crore business and has turned into a popular brand name among the people of Delhi. Currently run by Taranjeet, the grandson of Giani, the business has expanded and evolved without forgetting its legacy. Taranjeet has also made sure the business keeps up with the changes that have become necessary due to the pandemic.

Join our little hero, Bharat, and his grandfather, Commodore Sagar, as they sail into the deep blue waters of time. Book I of The Naval Journey of India takes a sweeping look at India's maritime endeavours, how the seas impacted us over millennia and how the oceans made us who we are.
