Stories in Stone

The Elephanta Caves narrate stories from mythology, capturing in stone oft-repeated tales like the descent of the Ganga and the  wedding of Shiva and Parvati. The Ellora Caves, built between the 5th and 10th centuries, bear testimony to the glorious rule of the Rashtrakootas. The caves are actually temples and monasteries carved into the mountain. Considered to be the site of Indraprastha, the legendary capital of the Pandavas, Delhi boasts of a 5000-year old history.
