An inspiring teacher and a profound thinker, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was a crusader for widow remarriage and insisted on school education for girls. When he helped to frame the Constitution of India, Babasaheb Ambedkar saw to it that untouchability was abolished by law. Rabindranath Tagore awakened in his fellow countrymen the desire for freedom. His stories and songs gave the people a new direction and gave the independence movement a different dimension.
